We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization
We provide housing, employment opportunities, and a loving support system for homeless LGBTQ+ young adults so that they can live fearlessly as their authentic selves.
Within one of our homes, these young adults learn responsibility, accountability, financial independence, life skills, but most of all; how to love themselves.
Currently we have homes in Boca Raton, FL and Colorado Springs, CO. with other homes opening up around the country soon. If you would like to sponsor one of our next homes, we'd love to hear from you.
About Jacob Jennings
Each year, an estimated 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness.
And I was one of them.
I was kicked out of my home in high school for being gay and graduated living out of my 1993 Ford Escort GT that used to shake when I hit the brakes.
At the age 17, I had a plan: to take broken homes and fix broken hearts. I would teach these “kids” how to invest, to flip houses and ultimately make homes of their own while learning professional skills to keep them off the streets for good. January 15th, 2020, (18 years later) the flood gates opened and there was no turning back.
Then Corona hit.
Life changed for all of us. Now my life had new challenges, and I had young people depending on me in my new home, looking for guidance, and asking for help. My funds from the personal loan I had taken out to start this mission were exhausting fast. But I had made a commitment to these “kids” and I wasn’t going to stop. I won’t stop.
It’s been six months of lock-down. @sherlockshomes is officially a nonprofit for LGBTQIA youth. Each of the kids here now have jobs and we are opening our second home- an 8 bedroom house in Colorado Springs, the second of what will be many. We already have three beds filled before I have even gone out to see the home. It is time to press on, to keep making a difference, and to change the conversation around LGBTQIA homelessness.
We need beds, furniture, food, clothing, computers, personal hygiene items… The list never seems to end. That’s OK! We. Will. Succeed. This time, we need more help.
We need YOU.
If you believe that it’s time to take a stand, that the world is bigger than any individual person and that we can all make a difference together; if you believe a single act of kindness can change the life of one person; if you believe that all it takes is everything you’ve got to follow your dreams and change the world, then we need you.
You can support us by sharing our mission with your friends and family. And if you are able to, please consider donating to Sherlock's Homes. Together, we can change the conversation around homelessness.
A lot of words can describe how grateful I am to have met Jacob! He brought me in when I had no where to go. I was being irresponsible and not paying attention to the news of COVID-19. I was partying in Gainesville and Tampa Bay, Florida. When Jacob called me one day and asked how I was doing and I told him I was stuck in Gainesville. Without hesitation, flew me to West Palm Beach and brought me in to his home. He has helped me become a better man and a contributing member of our Community here at Sherlock's Holmes Foundation. Jacob is like a second father to me and I am so happy to have met him. He has introduced me to the real estate, and opened a whole new future to me. He is helping me get my real estate license. Overall I'm just grateful to have met such a kind-hearted, sweet and genuine person like Jacob Jennings.
I love Jacob, he is such a helper to all it’s almost sounds blown out of proportion when you hear the amount of miracles this man conquered. He’s personally helped me with my upcoming business, my head and making sure I get my brain scans fast and get my results fast and my doctors are good, he’s held me and let me cry and just let all of my walls down. If you could have a mom and dad all in one it would be Jacob, I don’t know how he does it. He’s so amazing I hope nothing but the best for him.
I honestly have no idea where my life would have gone if it weren't were Sherlock's Homes Foundation. I just no I wasn't going in a good direction. When I moved to Florida I was broken, and I hated everyone because I hated myself. Jacob was just what I needed in my life. He lifts me up to be the best I can be. I actually have friends and I care about them and myself now. This is my second family. Jacob goes above and beyond the call of duty.
I aged out of foster care and ended up homeless for several years. I heard from a friend about Sherlock's Homes Foundation and spoke to Jacob a few days later. The day I spoke to him he took me in and within the week, bought me new clothes and toiletries. I was a bit reluctant at first, but I know that's because I wasn't used to being loved in that way. Now I am so grateful for everything he does. He's taught me how to be an adult. Jacob helped me gain a better understanding for not only others, but myself as well.
